1. Open Facebook:

Open the Facebook app on your mobile phone, it would be a dark-blue app with a white f.  This will directly open the Facebook Newsfeed.

In case you are not logged in, then you need to provide your email address/username with which you have created your Facebook account. Next, enter the correct password in the required field and tap the “Login” tab.

If you are not able to remember your Facebook password, then simply reset your password.

2. Open Your Friends Profile Page:

You can find the person you want to unfriend with two different methods. First one is typing the name of the person you want to unfriend in the search bar located at the top of the main page. When you start typing the name of a person, Facebook will start showing suggestions on the screen, you can choose the person from the suggestion’s list.

The second way to find the person you want to unfriend is-

Tap on your profile picture located beside “What’s on your mind…” field. This will open your profile. Scroll down the feed until you see the “See All Friends” tab. Once you find the tab, tap on it, doing this will show you a list of your friends.

3. Tap Friends:

Once you opened the friend’s profile you want to unfriend, tap on “Friends” tab located just next to the person’s name.

From the “Friends” tab, you will get two options on the screen that is, “Unfriend,” and “Block”. There tap “Unfriend” option which will pop-up a menu saying “Unfriend *****? You’ll need to send a friend request to become friends with ***** again. Below the message, you will have the CANCEL and CONFIRM tabs. Tap “CONFIRM” if you really don’t want to see the post from the person.

Unfriend Someone On Desktop Site:

1. Open Facebook:

Open Facebook on your preferred web browser by typing Facebook.com. This will directly navigate you to Facebook’s main page.

If you are not logged in already, then you need to provide the required credentials. Enter your email address/username/phone number associated with your account. Further, provide the password that you created while creating your Facebook account. Ensure to enter the right password- in case you forgot the password, reset it with a few taps.

2. Open Your Friends Profile Page:

There are two different ways with which you can open your Facebook profile page. First one is typing the name of the person you want to unfriend in the search bar located at the top of the main page. When you start typing the name of a person, Facebook will start showing suggestions on the screen, you can choose the person from the suggestion’s list.

The second way to find the person you want to unfriend is-

Tap on your profile picture located with your name at the top of the main page. This will open your profile. Just below your cover image, you will see multiple tabs that are; “Timeline,” “About,” “Friends,” “Photos,” “Archive,” and “More”.

Here you need to click the “Friends” tab, this will show you a list of friends you have on Facebook.  Select the friend you want to unfriend, this will navigate you on his/her profile page.

3. Tap Friends:

Once you opened the friend’s profile, look for the “Friends” tab located at the top of the page next to follow and message tabs. You can find the option at the top-left corner of the page.

On the “Friends” tab, you will have the drop-down menu. Click on “Drop-down” menu, this will show a list of multiple options that are “Get Notifications,” “Close friends,” “Acquaintances,”  “Add to another list…,” and “Unfriend”.

4. Tap Unfriend:

From the list that appears on the screen, click on the “Unfriend” tab. That’s all you are done. Once you click on the “Unfriend” tab, it will appear as “Add Friend” tab.

Things To Know:

  • The person won’t be notified if you unfriend him or her.
  • If you do not want someone to see your profile or your post, you can block them with a few taps.
  • If you unfriend someone, you will be removed from that person’s friends list as well. If you want to be friend with this person again on Facebook, you will be required to add him/her as a friend again.
