Unfollowing someone will prohibit everything they post from appearing in your news feed. When you unfollow someone, that person will never know that you have unfollowed him/her. That person can still comment on your posts, see your posts and can still exchange messages with you.

Go to Facebook app on your mobile phone and tap on it. It would be a blue icon with a white f. Once you tap on the app, Facebook’s News Feed page will open automatically.
If you are not already logged in, then you will be required to provide your email address/username/phone number associated with your account and password. (Ensure to provide correct username and password).
Once you logged into Facebook, go to the search bar located at the top of the profile page.
Type the name of the friend in the search bar you want to unfollow. As you type the name of your friend, different suggestions will appear below the search bar. Tap on your friend’s profile from the list that appears on your screen.
When you open the profile of the person you want to unfollow, you will see “Friends,” “Following,” “Messages,” and “More” tabs below the name of the person.
Here, you need to tap on the “Following” tab.
Once you tap “Following” tab, a pop-up will appear showing three options that are “Unfollow,” “Default,” and “See First” at the bottom of the screen.
Tap on the “Unfollow” option to simply restrict the person’s posts.
Once you tap on the “Unfollow” tab, you will see a message “You’ll stop seeing posts but stay friends” below the three options.
If you are done with the process, tap on the arrow located at the above-left corner of the page. Doing so will exit the menu and save the changes that you have made. You will no longer see updates from that person in your News feed.
The unfollowing procedure is almost similar on mobile phone and computer.
Go to your preferred web browser and enter http://www.facebook.com. Doing this will open Facebook’s login page. Provide your username/email address/ phone number associated with your Facebook account and then enter the correct password. Further click on “Log In” tab located beside the password tab.
If you are already logged in or have marked the “Keep me logged in” box previously then Facebook’s News feed will open automatically.
Do not mark “Keep me logged in” box if you are using a public computer (e.g., library computer).
Once you open Facebook’s news feed, go to the search bar located at the top of the page. Type the name of the person you want to unfollow. As you start typing the name of a person, Facebook will start showing suggestions, click on the name you want to unfollow.
If you are not able to find the person from the suggestions, type the complete name and click on “Enter” option. Doing this will open the profile of the person.
On the cover photo of the person’s account, you will see “Friends,” “Following,” and “Message” option. Click on the “Following” option.
Once you click on the “Following” option, you will see a small list of three options, click on the “Unfollow” tab there. This will simply unfollow the person and prohibit the posts of the person.
Apart from unfollowing someone from his/her profile, you can also unfollow the person from their posts. If you are tired of seeing the negative posts from your friend, then you can simply unfollow him/her right from the post.
Another option through which you can easily unfollow a person from your friend’s list is the “Settings” menu. Yes, here you just need to go through a basic procedure.
Open Facebook through its app or via your preferred web browser. provide your login credentials (email address/username/phone number and password).
If you are already logged in then you will be navigated directly to the Facebook’s news feeds.
Click the drop-down menu located on the top-right corner of the page. You will find the option beside “Question mark” icon.
When you click on the drop-down menu, a list of options will appear where you need to select the “News Feed Preferences.”
When you click on the option, a pop-up will appear with multiple options. Click on “Unfollow people and groups to hide their posts” tab from the list.
When you click on “Unfollow people and groups to hide their posts” tab, you will be prompted with a list of your Facebook’s friends. Select the users you want to unfollow.
Once you select the list of people you want to unfollow, click on “Done” tab (blue box) to compete for the task.
When you click on “Done” a blue tick will appear on “Unfollow people and groups to hide their posts” tab.
Open Facebook on your preferred browser or open its app on a mobile phone. The Facebook app would be of a blue color icon with a white f.
Enter your username or email address associated with Facebook account and password. (Ensure to provide a correct password ).
If you are already logged in then you directly land on the Facebook’s news feed page.
Once you are logged in to your Facebook’s page, you will see a drop-down menu at the top-right corner of the page. Click on the menu to continue the further procedure.
After clicking on the drop-down menu, a list of options will display on your screen. Look for the “News Feed Preferences” option and click on it.
From the “News feed Preferences,” you will be navigated on a page where you need to select “Reconnect with people and groups you’ve unfollowed.” Doing this will show you a list of friends you have on Facebook. Select the users you want to reconnect again.
Once you select the users you want to reconnect back, click on the “Done” tab located at the bottom-left corner of the page. Doing this, you will see a red mark on the “Reconnect with people and groups you’ve unfollowed” tab.
Unfollowing someone on Facebook is not complicated, but it is important to make sure that you really want to unfollow someone or not. If you are running a business page or you are a creator, then it is not a good idea to unfollow people from the friend’s list. If you unfollow them, you won’t be able to see their post means you won’t be able to know about their interest, which will make it difficult for you to target the right group and deliver the best services and content.
