1. Open Instagram:

Open the Instagram app from the list of apps on your device- it would be the pink colored icon with a white camera icon on it. Tap on the app, doing so will open the Instagram News Feed directly.

If you are not already logged in, log in to your account with the associated email address/username/ phone number to the account and your account's password. (Ensure to enter the correct credentials).

2. Navigate To The Post You Want To Share:

Look for the post which you want to share in your Stories. Tap on the "paper plane" icon (represented with an arrow) located beside comment icon at the bottom of the post.

3. Tap On "Add Post To Your Story":

Once you clicked on the "paper plane" icon, a list of followers will appear on your screen. Above the followers, you will see multiple options including "Add to Story," "Reply," "WhatsApp," "Share to". You can choose the option which is convenient for you. But here, we will tap on the "Add to Story" option to proceed.

4. Tap "Send To" Option:

Once you select "Add to Story" section, the post which you have chosen to share in your story will open with multiple options (eg. download button, stickers, close friends, and filters). If you want to add some creativity to your post, you can select the options among them and can explore other styles.

When you are ready to share your post to the Stories section, tap on the "Send to" button located at the bottom right corner of the page.

5. You Are Done:

After clicking on the "Send to" option, your post will be shared on the Stories section.

When you tap the “Send to” option, you will see a new page showing the “Share” option. Tap the “Share” option. In the next step, you will see the “Done” tab, tap on it and that’s all. You are done.

Legal Consideration For Sharing Others' Post:

But that should not discourage you from asking for their permission first.

Facts To Know:

  • If the original post you are sharing is a video, then it will still appear as an image in your Stories section.
  • If the post which you want to share is from a private account then you won't be able to send it to your Stories section. However, you can still share the posts with friends who also follow that same account.
  • You can only add a single post in your story as a sticker, but you can't add multiple posts in a single story.
  • All posts shared in your story will show the usernames of the original creators of the post.
  • If you don't want others to share your posts in their stories, then you can simply change the settings. Open "Settings" on Instagram -- Toggle Off "Allow Resharing To Stories" option.
