YouTube is a fantastic video sharing network provide multiple features and enhanced options to every user. One of the major benefits YouTube offers is the liberty of adding subtitles on videos you want. You can make changes in your recent or the previously uploaded videos any time anywhere without any restrictions. This is one of the biggest tools which make the channel a fantabulous place to enjoy a variety of content.
Adding subtitles on any YouTube video is easy, but the procedure completely depends on the type of video you want to include subtitles- you want to add the subtitles in the uploaded video or the recently created content.

YouTube supports a number of ways to append subtitle to your videos. Moreover, you can also contribute subtitles to the video uploaded by others by simply opening one of their videos. Here, the article will walk you through the two different ways to add subtitles on your uploaded videos as well as the on other videos.
Open any search browser in your computer and go to the address bar placed at the top of the web browser. Type http://www.youtube.com on the search tab and then press “Enter.” After this, you will be directed on YouTube’s main page, which will appear with multiple options and the most popular videos.
If you are not automatically logged into your YouTube account, then you won’t be able to add anything you want in your content. You will be only allowed to watch other videos.
To login into your account, you need to select any of your associated Google accounts. Once you select the Google account, press “Enter” after which you will be taken on YouTube’s homepage.
Once you logged in to your YouTube account, select the profile icon- it is a circular structure located at the top-right corner of the page. Once you click on the icon, a list of options will appear on the screen.
If you have uploaded your profile image, you will find the circle with your the image.
From the list of options that appeared on your screen, select “YouTube Studio (Beta). The option will open a new page with multiple options.
Look at the left side of the page where you will see a list of option including “Dashboard,” “Videos,” “Analytics,” “Comments,” “Settings,” etc.
Scroll down the channel list of option located on the left side of the page to get the “Transcriptions” just located below the comment tab. Click on the “Transcription” option after which you will get the content uploaded by you.
Now, from the list of videos, select the video in which you want to add subtitles. When you click on the video, you will be prompted with different options.
Among the different options, click on the “Add Language”. Here, you need to click on the “Add Language” icon located at the top-right corner of the page- it would be covered with a blue box.
From the “Add Language” option, you will get a list of different languages, select any language which is convenient for you.
When you add Language for your video content, it will categorize your YouTube channel’s subtitles which help the YouTubers from all over the world because they will easily find videos in their native language.
Note: Must add subtitles in your video content; it may help and encourage users who are not able to hear.
Once you selected the preferred Language, click on the “Add” button located below the “Subtitles” category. After the quick click, you will be taken on a new page where you will get different methods and tabs to add subtitles.
Now, you need to select the methods among the list which appears on your screen. The options would be-
Choose how you want to add subtitle, you will find three rows just below one another that include various methods of add subtitles.
Once you click on the upload a file, then you will be required to select the files where you have already written the content for subtitles. Select any of the files from which you want to add subtitles and click on “Upload.”
If you select this option, then you would get a box with a message, “Type everything that’s spoken in the video here, then click “Set timings” to automatically line up your text with the speech in the video.”
Enter the text in the box, and set timing as per the video arrangements and complete the procedure. This will add subtitles to your videos.
This is the section where you can directly add subtitles to your video and can adjust the time frame as per the shots in the video. Once you are done with adding the content you want then select the “publish” button located at the top-right corner of the page. Doing this, the subtitles will be posted on your videos.
You need to open YouTube in your preferred web browser. Just in case you are not logged in the network already then you have to select the Google account associated with the network. Doing this, you could easily be logged in to your YouTube account.
If you encounter any issue while logging in to your YouTube account like not able to remember your password, then you would get a verification code on your associated phone number, or on the email address.
Look for the video in which you want to add subtitles as per your convenience. You can search the video by typing its name in the search tab located at the top of the page. Once you start typing the name of the video, you will start seeing the related options as well.
Once you select the video in which you want to add translations, click on the three horizontal dots located just below the video beside the “Save” option.
When you click on the three dots, you will be prompted with two different options that are “Report,” and “Add translations.”
Here, you need to click on the “Add translations” located at the bottom of the pop-up menu. When you click on the “Add translations” option, it will lead you on a new page with multiple options.
Switching Language is optional as you can also continue with the existing Language if you are comfortable with it or it is your regional Language. Just in case you want to change the Language, then click on the “Switch Language” option which will give you an option box with a drop-down icon. Click on it and select the Language which you want to choose.
After selecting the Language, click on the “Set language” option to save the Language.
Note: There are 190 languages listed in the drop-down menu.
Now, after selecting the Language, you will see boxes with a text “Enter Subtitle.” Enter the content which you want to add in the boxes as per the need.
You will have different boxes for different shots of the video, therefore make sure what you add to give some meaning to the video.
Once you are done with adding subtitles in the video, click on the “Submit contribution” box located at the top-right side of the page.
After the procedure, you will be prompted with a box saying, “Are the subtitles done?”. Move as per the requirement and the onscreen instructions. That’s it; you are done with the procedure.
Note: “When you add subtitles to others’ videos, then it does not get posted on the video immediately; first it gets under the review procedure by the company, and later it comes with the new subtitles.”
